Patient is returning for suture removal after lesion or nevus removal. That would be a follow-up Z code correct? I haven't looked into it yet, just thought I would ask while I was on tonight.

What about if a patient is coming in to the office for suture removal that was done at the ER. Would this also use the Z follow up code or do you code the laceration? Help!

The guidelines state that aftercare fir injury will not be coded with aftercare Z codes. So for suture removal for a repaired laceration you use the laceration code with the D for the 7th character
