Under what circumstances would you use Z94.0 kidney transplant status or Z48.22 encounter for aftercare of transplanted kidney. What is the difference?
 
Z94 is just when the provider wants to document a previous transplant, such as for a med refill or if the fact that the pt has only one kidney is causing other documented problems

Z48.22 is for when the provider is actually providing follow-up services after a transplant

I don't think Z94 can be first-listed, but Z48.22 can be (and in some cases, I think, MUST be)
