Patient had laparoscopic, surgical, gastric restrictive procedure (sleeve) postoperatively he developed an intra-abdominal hematoma. The surgeon went in for exploration and evacuation via the original incisions performing this procedure laparoscopically as well. I have the code 35840 Exploration for postoperative hemorrhage, thrombosis or infection; abdomen. In the description it states provider enters through original incision, however I can only assume this means a celiotomy or other abdominal incision. So, am I correct that if the provider places trocars and proceeds laparoscopically, I would need to us the unlisted code 49329?
