Hi...i work for an internal practice. We have a PT that came in for her 1st visit for gastric bypass clearance. I know the code for after she has it but does anyone know the code for pre??? The only this Dr. gave me was Morbid obesity.

billing from the surgeons office-we use 278.01 and sometimes v72.83 depending on what visit they are here for

This is for there 1st visit of the 6 month visits to be able to have the surgery

You will also want to add the BMI for the patient. The carriers want to see the BMI because the procedure is approved or denied based on the BMI.
