Help... Looking for the Dx code for a Pre Ulcerative Lesion. L84 was mentioned, but is this the best option. My provider uses this Dx a lot w/ or w/o DM. I don't think L84 applicable..

Thanks in advance..

pre ulcerative lesion

Consider looking at pressure ulcers, stage 1 (L89.xx) for the non-diabetic. Diabetic ulcers are either considered present or not. I don't think they are staged. (E11.6xx).

'Pre-ulcerative' really does give any diagnostic information about the type of lesion other than that the lesion has the potential of developing into an open wound. If this is all you have from the provider, and assuming this is documented as being on the patient's skin, I would use L98.9, the coding for an unspecified skin lesion. While it could in fact be something like a corn or callous, L84 would not be correct for this as it's making an assumption about the condition that isn't not supported by the documentation.
