How would you code a fall without injury during pregnancy?

This is a tough one. You can try using Z04.3 (Encounter for examination and observation following other accident) with your W19.XXXA, but you won't be able to tie your pregnancy codes to the encounter because of a coding exclusion between Z04.3 and all pregnancy ICD-10 codes.

I agree you’ll have to leave out the pregnancy codes if the primary reason for the visit is an examination after a fall and your only choice is to use an examination Z code. You can’t even use Z33.1 unfortunately. I do wish they would update the rules to allow for the incidental pregnancy code.
