Hello to all,
I'm new to OB coding so I am full of questions.
I need your insights and expertise. A pregnant patient was tested a week ago and returned to the office. My provider reported Z34.82/encounter for supervision of other normal pregnancy, 2nd trimester AND D56.3/Thalassemia (minor) trait. The patient has Thalassemia minor trait with no FE def on FE studies, is this still considered a normal pregnancy? Can we report the two codes together? I'm not sure if having the Thalassemia minor trait will now make this a high risk or complicated pregnancy. Thanks in advance.
