If a pregnant comes in for her 20 week Fetal Survey US and a Low Level Placenta Previa is found, what would the correct coding order be? Reason for Exam: Z36, Primary Dx: Z36 and Secondary Dx: O44.02, or would the Low Lying Placenta now become the Primary Dx ? Thanks
 
The O codes have sequencing priority and always go first listed. You would not code the Z36 code.. See the excludes 1 note. You will need to add the Z3A code for the weeks of gestation.
