I was wondering if anyone might know if there is a modifier that can be attached to a preliminary read for an x-ray for example that might be done due to a radiologist not being available and if so, can the radiologist then charge for the final read.

Thanks so much!

The physician can document that he "reviewed the raw films, no radiologist report available" and he will gets points for his Data Section of MDM.

A Radiologist is required to provide the final written interp of the films. The prelimiary review by the physician is irrelevant to the Radiologist's formal interp and report. The Radiologist will code and bill for his interp and report
