I have a question regarding prescription management and when it is appropriate to count when leveling. I code for a wound healing center and they routinely use Bactroban when treating their patients. If a prescription medication is used only at the time of the office encounter but not prescribed for use at home, would this count as prescription management. I appreciate any input.

I personally haven't reads anything that requires that the prescription drug has to result from a prescription sent to and filled by a pharmacy. I would think that proper documentation of the medication at the office visit, including dose, amount used etc would qualify as prescription management since it is a prescription drug.
