Looking for some guidance at an FQHC. Medicare will not cover preventative visits, but this seems like the decision was made based on the elderly population. How do younger patients get a preventative visit that we can get reimbursed for? Younger patients need preventative visits not AWV's. Any help or opinion would be appreciated.

I have been doing billing for an FQHC for the last 4 1/2 years and Medicare does pay for the AWV's as long as you are billing on a UB04 witht the correct Revenue Codes and HCPCS codes. They will pay the current encounter rate for your region.
