Can cerebrovascular disease or cerebral atherosclerosis be used as a primary hospice dx? I've read that ICD-10 codes I60-I67 are not appropriate for hospice, however I have notes from a webinar had a slide state cerebrovascular disease, unspecified is not a preferred code and to query the MD for a more specific code. Are dx codes I67.9 and I67.2 ever allowed to be used in the hospice setting? They aren't acute diagnoses like diagnosis codes I60-I66, so I'm confused why they wouldn't be allowed.
