If the reading physician doesn't read a test/procedure until a later date which date of service should be used the day that the test was completed or the day that the test was read? The date in the dictation states the day that the test was completed. It almost appears like the doctor just didn't dictate his services until the later date.
 
The date of diagnostic examination (on which the service was actually rendered) is the correct date for billing/coding purposes.
