I'm not familiar w/ this service & would like advice please. I've researched this Promis-29 & it appears it may only be considered as a quality-reported service for a provider. Does anyone have any info to support this a service if it can be billed under a CPT code 93136, 96146, or other cpt code? I'm just trying to gather some general info to make sure I'm looking in the right area. Any advice is appreciated, I specialize in ortho-so this is a new to me.

I realize I am pretty late in responding, but here goes, for someone that might be looking this up currently - PROMIS-29 is NOT reportable as 96136 or 96146 for several reasons. A). NCCI policy manual clearly states that these tests cannot be self administered. PROMIS-29 is self administered. B) 96136 is a timed code. PROMIS-29 is not a timed test (Its really not even a test, just a screening questionnaire). C) The NCCI policy manual also states that these tests cannot be available in the public domain. PROMIS-29 IS available in the public domain, anyone can take it. - There are several other factors that make it evident that PROMIS-29 is not reportable as 96136/96146. Hope this helps, look up Chapter 11 in the NCCI manual and also the CPT code descriptors vs provider documentation.
