In a patient with no signs or symptoms of DVT/PE, etc but with a high probability of it occuring but contraindicted for other measures. What ICD-9 code to use? The only ones that are listed are all for current or previous issues the patient has had. I get this especially for trauma patients or patients that will be immobile for long periods. All the clinical documentation shows they are correct to perform the procedure but no tips on billing for it.
