Can you help clear up a constant question asked about prosthetics. Why can't E/M charges be included for CP's? Also where can you go to get updated information regarding prosthetics? Thanks, Sue Stanley

I work for an O&P office, but we are fee-for-service and do not use CPT codes. The fees for each HCPCS code include the device as well as eval & global period, usually 6 months of adjustments/repair.

Prosthetics - wheelchair gloves

Can anyone advise on the most appropriate HCPCS code for Impacto Full Finger gloves for wheelchair use? Patterson (becoming Performance Health) has L3999, upper limb orthotic, not otherwise specified, in their system. They advised, though, that with the changeover they are removing the HCPCS codes from the associated items to dissociate themselves from the coding aspect. Wheelchair gloves do not appear to fit other available options for gloves (dialysis, nonsterile per 100, sterile per pair).

Can anyone share any good coding references (other than links to the supplier manuals at https://www.cms.gov/Center/Provider...nt-DME-Center.html?redirect=/center/dme.asp??

I've received information that wheelchair gloves are considered a non-billable item at our facility.
