Do any of you have psychiatrist billing evaluation and management codes (99212-99214) in lieu of medication management (90862) ? If the answer is yes what criteria are they following? Ie, meeting the requirements of the history, exam and/or medical decision making or are they billing based on time. Thanks for your assistance.

Yes, when med mgmt isn't the sole purpose of the visit and more is involved. They use both options depending on the visit, Hx/Exam/MDM when the visit isn't dominated by counseling/coordination.

Yes, mine does. He goes mostly off auditing, but sometimes will bill based on time
