Our clinic has psychologists and psychiatrists. If a psychiatrist sees a patient that the psychologist has already seen can the psychiatrist bill this as a new patient?

No, this would be considered an established patient. Patient was seen within the past 3 years, then they are established the type of provider would not make a difference. Same if they were seen in a medical office and one visits was with the PA and one visit was with the MD, the patient is still established.:)

Would this hold true with a LCSW or a LPC? If the patient is established in counselling with the LCSW and then is referred to the psychiatrist for medication.
