Hi! I need help. I have a chance to help a Psychologist with his billing. I have never done psych billing so I'm not sure if he needs e/m codes or codes from the psych chapter. He does not do any testing and all are office visits.
Any help would be great!

He can not bill EM codes or psych codes with EM components in it.
Look at the 96150 and 96151 and look at 90804,90806,90810,90812 codes. More than likely it's one of the he's doing.
If he's doing just plan old psychotherapy on patients than depending on time spent, it is 90804 or 90806.
Check Medicare NCD's on psychologists. That will give you some insight to what he can and cant bill.

Make sure when using the "908" code they are time based and it will need the Start and Stop time documented properly.

Can you tell me if when where we can find these guidelines and if when billing 96150 for 60 mins if we bill the code multiple times or only once. Thank you

The CPT book tells you that 96150 is per 15 minute increments.
