I work like to present a question to those members that do OP PT billing. My question is do PTA's see Medicare patients in your practices? If so, do they document the visit? And are their services billed incident to the physical therapist on site? These are outpatient, place of service, 11 services.

PTAs and COTA may see Medicare patients and do their own charting and billing when a PT/OT is in the office. If no PT/OT is available in the office then no Medicare patients should be scheduled. Our practice is that a PTA or COTA treats patients but every 5th visit was back with the PT/OT. Any changes to the treatment was done by PT/OT.
