We are an outpatient PT practice located in IL, we recently upgraded to a new EMR software company and are needing some clarification on timed units.
Can someone please tell me what timed unit coding rule-set we should be following for Workers' compensation patient's and also provide the documentation to support this as I have looked all over the IWCC website and see no reference to any specific rule set.
Also, in the case when we have a private insurer like BCBS as a primary payer and Medicare as a secondary payer, which rule set takes precedence? I am fairly certain that it would be Medicare. If you could also provide CMS documentation regarding this that would be great as well.
