Good Afternoon,
I am inquiring if when patient comes into office for a protime we bill 93793. My question is can an Medical Assistant lock note or does it need to be a provider? I have providers that believe that the MA's can lock the note for billing. Any help or a link would be great appreciative.

Thank you

No the provider needs to be the one to review the labs. 93793 - (Anticoagulant management for a patient taking warfarin, must include review and interpretation of lab test results, patient instructions, dose adjustment (as needed), and scheduling of additional test(s), when performed) to bill 93793. I work for primary care and if there is no document of the required information we do not bill 93793 since there is no documentation to support 93793 and only bill 85610 and 36416.
