Would you code both 443.81 and 440.20? My provider is questioning that they are the same DX...

they definitely are not the same
440 is the category for Atherosclerosis - narrowing of an arterial wall caused by deposition of plaque-forming cholesterol and other lipids within the lumen.
The codes within thhis category all have this same definition
440.20 is extremities, unspecified as to whether with rest pain or intermittent claudication, etc.
443 are for other peripheral vascular disease ( any other not listed with a specific code)
443.81 is a secondary only allowed code (italicized code) and must have an underlying disease specified in the documentation which is coded first listed.
