Wiki Question on CCS Credential and IP coding

Two questions:
1. Do you think obtaining the CCS credential from AHIMA will open doors to get into IP coding?
2. Is it possible to obtain an entry level IP coding position?
I have 14 years of experience in emergency medicine both profee and facility, ancillary, as well as some outpatient coding. I do firmly believe that I have missed job opportunities because I do not have the CCS. I am considering pursuing this credential but given today's circumstances, I want to make sure my efforts pay off.
