Wiki Question on Chronic Care Management Billing

When you bill for chronic care management and add the extra time code of 99439, do you bill that for the last day that the extra minutes were done on or does it matter if it is billed on the date the first encounter was made? We have had that question asked in the billing department where I work and I am looking for further clarification if anyone can provide that. Thanks in advance

Hi there, if you're asking whether the extra time code can be reported separately from 99490 - no. According to the 2025 CPT manual the codes are reported together for services performed during the calendar month. In addition, you can only report a total of 60 minutes per month (99490, 99349x2)
