Hello,
I'm still new at this...I work in pathology. If a report comes through as squamous cells showing focal hpv effect does this mean I code dx as hpv or is this just a high risk patient?
The history shows high risk patient.
Any help is appreciated!!

I had something similar a few weeks ago. Look at 795.10 - 795.19 and see if it matches word-for-word what's on the path report

well it isnt word for word. .. i should have stated beforehand that the specimen is a uterine cervix. Would 795.05 be correct? Its very similar...

HPV -squamous cells showing focal hpv

If you are wanting to code statement "squamous cells showing focal HPV"
you will code 795.05 with 079.4

awesome, thank you!
Does HPV also need to be coded for the statement 'squamous epithelium with hpv associated cellular changes'? I wasnt sure if this meant the HPV caused cellular changes or that the cells are changing and it looks like it could be HPV.
