Wiki Question on sexual abuse exams

My pediatrian has bee approached by a child advocacy center and they want her to perform exams on children of alleged sexual abuse. My superior wants information on charge tickets and docuforms for these types of encounters. Also if there are any legal issues we should be worried about.

The very few that we have had to perform, we only billed an E/M service code. We always had to document on the agencies forms and send our results back to them. We never had to perform any swabs for diseases if we were concerned we sent them to the ER where they were seen by the rape crisis team.
