When it comes to services occurring on the same day (same practice, same group), are the following combinations allowed?

  1. Can a psychologist bill for therapy (e.g., 90834) and a psychiatrist/NP/PA bill for med management with supportive therapy?
  2. Can a psychologist bill for therapy (e.g., 90834) and a psychiatrist/NP/PA bill for a service that is just med management WITHOUT supportive therapy?
  3. Can a psychologist bill a brief assessment (96127) along with a psychiatric evaluation (90792) by a psychiatrist/NP/PA?
  4. Can a psychologist bill a brief assessment (96127) along with a med management visit by a psychiatrist/NP/PA?
  5. Can a psychologist bill an eval (90791) as well as a psychiatrist/NP/PA performing an eval (90792)?
Thanks.

Hello, I added my reply after your questions. We bill for those all the time and have no problem with getting reimbursed
May I ask how do you code your inpatient initial med eval performed by FNP-BC for clearance to inpatient admission to an acute inpatient psych hospt. The provider documents and encounter w/ ot w/o abnormal findings and I code the 9922X w/ Z00.XX and use the abnormal finding secondary. The 90792 and 9922X are billed on the same dos by different providers and it comes back denied dup. or another issue is coding a consult on the same day as an inpatient subq visit. how would I apply CPT codes 9923X and 9923X by different provider on same dos without it denying as dup?
