We are having a meeting this afternoon to determine whether or not we will implement a HIPAA compliant translation service. We have been seeing an increasing amount of foreign language patients and they are being required to bring interpreter services with them. If we implement a service, is it possible to bill for the interpreter service? Is this cost something the company will have to absorb? I know that, by law, we must provide and pay for ASL (American Sign Language) interpreters...is this a billable or non-billable service? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
