I have started billing for a Radiation Oncologist in our large multi-specialty group and have a question about billing follow-up visits after the radiation. While I know that you can not bill a follow up visit during the course of treatment and for 3 months following its completion. My question is, what if my doc does the initial consult and treatment plan, but does not administer/oversee the radiation itself? Can he bill a follow up E/M visit, for example, 4 weeks into treatment?
