Hello

I am in desperation... I have recently been given the task to do the coding for the professional side of radiation oncology. I have NO CLUE what I am doing. I have been trying to research things about it, but cannot understand what the sites are trying to tell me. The hospital I work for basically said ..." here you go, and good luck with that.No seminars no special books"
Can someone maybe help answer some of my questions.

How many times can a radiation oncologist bill for treatment planning during the patients radiation course?
codes
77261

Is the correct Diagnosis to use for these always start with the V58.0 and then the cancer code?

If there is a website that might be able to help me understand this better I would greatly appreciate it. I am very desperate for some help

Thank you anyone in advance

Val

radiation coding

Try the NCCI guidelines 7000 codes; it tells you what codes are bundled and what codes can only be used only once per dos as well as modifiers. I was back-up poster for radiation dept. in my office but now have to do it weekly. The dosimetrist and radiation technitians provide the codes but we have to do the codes audit and posting. :)
