Any offices out there spending a ton of staff time on obtaining pre authorizations for radiology procedures?? Some of our staff is spending up to 20 minutes on obtaining one for the physicians after the office visit. We are thinking of up coding our E & M's but not sure if that is right. Would appreciate any input that you coders could give us. Thanks in advance!
 
If Audited What Would Be Your Explanation For The Higher Code? Cpt Guidelines State That It Is Physician Face To Face Time That Counts When Using Time To Establish E/m Coding. Sorry My Answer Would Be No.:)
