Are physicians allowed to recode (undercode) a visit if Medicare denied a claim or if the claim is past timely filing and would to recode it and submit the claim as a bland new claim with a lower code?

I answered this in a different post but in short. You may submit a corrected claim as long as the codes are fully supported by the documentation. You cannot submit a new claim and you can never just use a lower level code. You always let the documentation tell you what the codes should be.
