I've been coding ortho for about 7 months now and my boss wants me to learn spinal surgeries. Is there a good book out there I can get for referrence? If you know of any, please let me know. Thanks.

I really like Optum's Coding Companion for Neurosurgery/Neurology. It's the only book I've come across. I also like Karen Zupko's website, www.karenzupko.com , if you can access it. Has lots of spine coding info, with archived questions you can search.

Hope this helps!

You also may want to look at North American Spine Society Common Coding Scenarios for Comprehesive Spine Care.

It's a manual produced by NASS.
