I am coding a colonoscopy pn a patient that did not want conscious sedation, I am thinking this should be billed with the reduced services modifier since we did not administer sedation. Any other opinions?

No, it's just an included portion of the procedure so you wouldn't bill it seperately.

Kind of like the OV prior to a screening is not covered by Medicare as it's considered part of the procedure. You don't put the 52 on the procedure if they didn't have the OV.

Exactly. Reduced services would be used when the colonoscopy was not completed. Whether or not the patient obtained any anesthesia should not be considered when coding for the colonoscopy.
