Since I am new to this game, could someone explain to me how to read the CMS website on the CCI edits. What does the effective date and deletion date mean in terms of the edits.

I know it sounds simple, and it probably is, but I just want to be acurate when billing procedures.

For the dates, those represent when the edit went into effect and when the edit was terminated. In some cases, that may read as the same date, meaning nothing currently exists (in terms of an edit).

If, of course, there is no date other than the effective date, then the edit is still valid.

Hope this makes sense. I agree that it's very difficult at first to understand the layout of the edit information, but you'll get the hang of it with some practice.
