I was curious how other offices do this process. When an insurance company needs medical records for billing do you send back to medical records department?

I was curious how other offices do this process. When an insurance company needs medical records for billing do you send back to medical records department?

If the request is related to a specific claim for payment, our Insurance Collectors handle the request. Any others, disability-type, pre-existing, HCC, HEDIS, etc, goes through a Records Release company that we have in our Medical Records Dept.

For the records sent by the collections dept, notes are made in the PM system. The ones that are sent by the RR company, notes are made in their system.
