I am looking for some feedback as it pertains to the relatively new Remote Therapeutic Monitoring (RTM) code set which was first introduced in 2022 - CPTs 98980 and 99898. The codes clearly describe the physician/other QHP time as a minimum of 20 minutes per calendar month, requiring at least one interactive communication with the patient/caregiver. I am trying to determine if there is a requirement that RTM be continuous from month to month in order for physicians/other QHP to be able to report it or can it be more sporadic based on the clinical judgement of the provider. For example, RTM is performed in January but not again until April? In reviewing the CPT Manual instructions for this code set, I could find no reference to any requirements like this but I could have missed it. Thank you in advance for feedback on this topic and/or sources I can go to for some additional clarity.
