Removal of fixation in global period

Is it a billable service if our physician removes external fixation or internal fixation planned during a global period? Thank you in advance for all of your help!

The answer depends on whether the physician took the patient to the operating room to remove the fixation or if it was performed in the office. If the physician did the procedure in the office then it is included in the global payment for the original surgery. If he returned the patient to the operating room you can report the procedure with either modifier 58 or 78 depending on which scenario applies to the case.
