HELP! Surgery scheduled for this coming Monday, February 27.
Patient had removal of acetabular w/insertion of antibiotic spacer back in December. Now, wound has opened and infection is suspected. Physician wants to remove the old spacer and put a new antibiotic spacer in the hip. How do I code this? 20704(insertion) and 20705(removal) are both add-on codes so I need a primary CPT. I think the CPT book is directing me to using 20680 for the removal or a I&D CPT if there is infection. So far, I'm looking at maybe 10180 with 20704. Can anyone help me?
