Hi: A patient has a renal stent placed which also means you can bill for the catheter placement (36245) Dx 4401. The physician also performs a Iliac PTA (37220).

Is it correct to bill for the 36245 for the selective catheter placement for the renal stent placement? We are getting rej's stating Incidental to more Inclusive service, bundling in with the 37220. So before we status this would love any in-put :) I think you should be able to get credit for the 36245 (59) but have not seen any information in regards to a situation like this..Hoping some has!

Thanks so much!:p

I think it is ok to code the catheter placement 36245 (59) mod appended to renal artery and code the stent 37205,75960, and PTA iliac 37220. This is one of Dr. Z example for his last webinar. :)

As far as revascularisation procedures concerned, catheterisation of different vascular artery can be coded with 59 mod.their wont be any issues
