Since Medicaid in our state does not recognize modifier 77, could it be substituted with an XP modifier?

Hi, are you asking about Medicaid or Medicare? As far as I knew, only Medicare was starting to use the X- modifiers; so no, I don't think that would work for Medicaid. Maybe just a -59?

I actually have billed Medicaid sucessfully using X modifiers, just not in this type of scenario.

Yes, You can submit with modifier XP instead of 77.
