I was asked by woman's health if there are any dx/procedure codes for charging for a repeat ultrasound since the doctors did not feel the previous u/s gave enough detail because of fetal activity. There are no health issues to justify any additional u/s, just the doc felt they were not clear enough and asked to get them repeated. Appearantly, this happens in the office frequently. The pt's insurance, Fidelis, does not cover more than 3 during the pregnancy, but because the doctor orders these more frequently, how do we get paid? Or do we just write them off? Thanks for helping. Pam
 
We run into the same and charge 76816. Re-evaluation of fetal size, interval growth, or aberrancies noted on a prior u/s. Hope this helps.
