I audit hospitalists and am up to my 3rd, 4th, and 6th cranial nerve in questions. Right now I have neurohospitalists using the '97 specialty guideline and I ofen see some of the nerves examined, then the statement "rest of the exam nonfocal". The other one is "Cranial nerves II-VII intact". My feeling is that all the nerves should be addressed when using the specialty exam.
I am not sure if I should count the above as a complete exam.
Thoughts? Be gentle, I'm a new auditor.
