If a provider reviews lab results generated from his/her own office and claims the point for it in medical decision making can the provider review that same lab result on a patients subsequent visit and claim the lab review point again in medical decision making? We have many patients that are prescribed narcotics and they return for visits every month. The provider doesn't need to have the patient have a repeat lab test yet but must review the previous lab results. Is this allowed or is this double dipping for claiming review of the same lab twice?
