My physician is asking what code(s) are appropriate for a revision of the acetabulum and the femoral head.

He also wants to know the code(s) for revision polyethelene liner and femoral
head.
I said 27134 for the acetabulum and the femoral head.
27134-52 for the polyethelene liner and femoral head.
Am I correct ?

He is stating that both scenarios would be 27134 ( no modifier).
I welcome any help . . . . Please.

This would fall under revision two-component code 27134?Revision of total hip arthroplasty; both components, with or without autograft or allograft?with modifier -52 appended. The appropriate ICD-9 code would be 996.46?Articular bearing surface wear of prosthetic joint?that became effective Oct 1, 2005.

But, the physician is questioning this . . .. You are using the unlisted code ?
Seems reasonable, but now I am even more confused. Using the 52 modifier
really cuts the reimbursement, but I want to do the "right " thing.
