I work for a pain management clinic, and we're trying to get a handle on RFL's. We have the LCD down for 64633-64636 cervical/thoracic/lumbar/sacral. We know it's at least 80 degrees centigrade. the CPT and LCD are clear on that.

But, what about 64620 or 64640? It does not give a specific minimum temperature. It only says no pulsed radiofrequency. So, if my provider says that she treated an area at 60 degrees for 180 seconds........would that meet criteria? I feel like I've exhausted my resources in looking for more specific criteria.

We normally do Intercostal RF's at 6-65 degrees. There are no guidelines stating it has to be a certain temperature for either of these procedures.
