I work in a gastro clinic. Under the ROS for Gastrointestinal my physicians have been stating Please see HPI. Is this acceptable? Thank you.
 
It is my understanding it doesn't really matter where it is located within the note, as long as you only count it for either hpi or ros, but not both.

Auditing is not my forte, so I am sure there are others here more versed in the subject. Personally, I would be okay with it being included in the HPI as long as you did not use it as an HPI element first.
