Hey Coders!

The LCD for Podiatry changed in September 2013, but still are questions. Do we have experts here in Podiatry? Please answer.

1. Which doctor of DLS?
-could be podiatrist?
-endocrinologist?
-another PCP, not doctor that patient use to go?

2. LCD states that patient can be seen by MD,DO, or qualified non-physician practioner.
- Who they are qualified non-physician practioners?
-can be NP, DPM? Who else can be?

3. How need to bill 11721 without systemic condition and without Q-modifiers?
for example: DXs: 110.1; 729.5. only
Do we need DLS?

4. Do we need DLS only for diagnoses with asterisc? Right? I want to be sure in it.

Thank you in advance.

I don't mean to sound ignorant, but I'm not sure what DLS is?
Anyway, my understanding is that that if you are billing the nail debridement because the pt has a systemic illness, such as diabetes, that you need to put the name of the physician who manages their diabetic care, whoever that may be, on the claim as well as the date of their last appointment with the managing physician.
