Please provide advice on coding the 3 procedures listed, when performed simultaneously. It doesn't feel to me that the hiatal hernia repair would be reimbursed.

Thoughts?

You would code:
43644
39502-59
43235-51.

I code for a Bariatric Surgeon in Central Ky.
We get reimbursed for all three, how much depends on the carrier.

laparascopic hiatal hernia

But 39502 59 indicated transabdominal approach vs laparascopic.....

Our Surgeon goes through the abdomin laparoscopicly to do the Roux-en-Y and does the Hiatal Hernia repair while he is in there.

trans=travel abdomin=abdomin al=process of

39502 doesn't say "open" it just says transabdominal.

He then does the EGD to ensure everything looks like it should from the
inside of the abdomin after the Roux-en-Y.
